Live Event Control Manager
Introduction
The LIVE EVENT CONTROL MANAGER (LECM) is designed to ensure the maximum viewer enjoyment. The LECM offers a proprietary functionality not available on other broadcast networks. The viewer is granted access to a multi-stage onscreen display. The live event screen can be supplied as an OWN Brand DISPLAY. The main screen is divided into two main sections, the first is a dialogue box and the second is a video player screen. The LECM offers a level of control never before available on a live internet broadcast.
The first stage is Box Office Open.
This allows viewers to choose from a number of options:
- Free events, the viewer simply registers and is issued with an event ticket number, unique to that viewer.
- Paying events, the viewer registers and is then sent to the client's own merchant payment page, the payment is collected by the client and then a “proof of payment” is registered against that viewer and a unique ticket number is issued.
- Sponsored events, these act like either 1 or 2 above, the event can be free and only viewer information, demographic and transmission data is collected. Or if a part sponsored event, then a reduced payment can be charged. Again the viewer is issued with a unique ticket.
The second stage is Doors Open
This section enables viewers to log in and validate their tickets and in a way, take the Best Front Seat in the house ready to watch the event of their choice
The third stage option is to close the Box Office
This option may be required if an event is being sponsored and the sponsor has set an agreed maximum number of viewers, or the event may prove to be so popular that the pre-agreed expected viewer numbers have been exceeded. The Bestfrontseat network is able to manage up to 2 million viewers at anyone time.
The Fourth stage is the Pre-Event status
To get to this stage paying or free viewers are asked to enter their unique ticket number. When the verification process is completed, the database opens a display box with a number of pre-recorded video clips for the viewer to watch while they await the start of the main event. There are a multiple of player sizes and screen configurations available for all Pre-Event videos, these range from any stream bit rate, or any screen size from full screen down to a quarter screen size. These variables are selected by the client prior to the event. This enables each event broadcast to be balanced between the client's budget and projected profitability.
The fifth stage is The Live Stream Start
Viewers in the Pre-Event section are notified that the main live event is about to start, the Bestfrontseat database is able to close all open video players at this stage and return the viewer to the Live Event start page. Viewers are then given a message telling the event is starting and a few seconds later, the live broadcast is opened in a video player at a size selected by the client. If full screen is selected, the LECM has the ability to enable sponsors and advertisers to post live messages and graphics onto the screen during the event itself. This increases the value of any advertising as the messages are delivered along side the actual event broadcast, it can not be switched off without the viewer loosing the programming they have selected.
Event Broadcast Failure
The LECM is designed to ensure communication between the event and the viewer is maintained at all times. Because the LECM is located at both the event location and also on our global deployment network, should a problem occur during the broadcast the viewers are still in contact with the broadcast.
For example:
A power outage at the venue where the event is taking place, the LECM operator on site can use his cellular phone to contact the server network and broadcast a message explaining what is happening and any other information that may be available. Following the message, all viewers are returned to the Second stage the Pre-Event section and the pre-recorded video selection is again made available to viewer while they wait for power to be restored. When the broadcast is again able to start, the pre-recorded videos are closed and the viewer is returned to the live broadcast. All this is done and controlled either at the event and/or at any of our offices. No action is required by the viewer and they do not miss any part of the live event. Any number of update messages can be sent to the viewers while they are connected to the broadcast network.
The sixth stage is the Live Stream Ended
When the Event is finished, the live event video player closes and returns the viewer to the main event closed page. This area can be used for a multiple number of additional services, such as a “BUY THE DVD NOW” section, if the viewer enjoyed the show they can order a DVD copy or buy a poster, a mug or any other merchandising. The area can be used to acquire additional personal or demographical information about the viewers.
It should be noted that Bestfrontseat operates a very strict viewer privacy policy, as such information can only be collected with the full knowledge and co-operation of the viewer concerned.
The seventh stage is the Post Event.
This section may be used to promote the next live event, detail special discounts available if you book now. The area can also be used as an analysis page for the event, for example, discussing sporting results, issues that arose during the game. Or provide a breakdown of the current status of the league as a result of the outcome of the game.
The final stage is the Event Closed
This returns the viewers back to the client’s own website, this can be back to the page they used to access the live event, or to any other web page designated by the client or website owner.
